Spring Break in the Dominican Republic - English, Español

1. Spring Break in the Dominican Republic  Hi everyone, I’m here to share a new adventure! Gisela, her family, and I went on a spring break vacation to Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. While it was primarily a relaxing vacation, I embarked on an exciting adventure when I became lost! Anyway, let’s begin. Gisela, her family, and I were all on the same flight from Washington, D.C., to the Dominican Republic. The flight was three and a half hours long. Gisela’s family came from Ohio to D.C., while Gisela and I came directly from D.C. We have been based in D.C. since Gisela is doing her master’s degree and is also working there. Anyway, during the plane ride, there were a bunch of college students on spring break looking like they were going to have a wild partying time. They seemed very excited about the trip. After the plane landed, Gisela and I got off. We waited for the family and got on a shuttle to the airport. Then we reconvened and went through immigration. After that, Gi...

Day 9 in Iceland: The Southern Area with Many Tourists - English, Español

1. Day 9 in Iceland: The Southern Area with Many Tourists Day 9 was our last full day in Iceland. We did our usual morning routine of eating our complimentary breakfast, packing, and checking out from the lovely hotel early to continue the last part of our journey on the Ring Road. We managed to drag our luggage from the long hallway to the car. Gisela also checked out from the hotel and handed the receptionist the keys. We got in the car, and Gisela pulled up the itinerary with the list of objectives for that day. Our first stop was Reynisfjara Beach, a short drive from the hotel. It is a black sand beach marketed as Iceland's "most dangerous beach." When visiting, you need to exercise a ton of caution and stay away from the water, as it has dangerous currents from the obstructed Atlantic currents. After all, the only land directly south of Reynisfjara Beach is Antarctica, which is at the opposite pole of the Earth! Gisela's dad parked the car, and we explored the be...

Day 8 in Iceland: More Glaciers and Geology - English, Italiano

1. Day 8 in Iceland: More Glaciers and Geology I looked out the window as Gisela's dad drove us to Jökulsárlón, a glacier lagoon in the southeastern part of Iceland. We had a boat tour of the glacial lake there at 11:00. We went to the place after eating breakfast and checking out our hotel in Höfn, a small town. Before we left the hotel, a cute, hungry cat was in the parking lot. We gave her some of our cheese, and she was satisfied and walked away. The car ride to the glacier lagoon was about 45 minutes long. Then we arrived, and Dad had difficulty finding parking in the busy parking lot, so Gisela said she would step out of the car and check us in for the tour. I joined her since I am her pug.  Finding the Jökulsárlón Amphibian Boat Tour ticket office took us a while. Gisela asked a staff member and showed her the online reservation. The staff member said the ticket stand was in the back. Gisela thanked her and dashed to the correct line. The wait was not too long. Then Gisela c...
